Description: Painter Decorator Apprenticeship Training consists of 3 levels of training. Apprentices attend school for 8 weeks a year Monday to Friday. Upon completion apprentices are required to gain 1300 on the job hours for each level they are completing. PFTI utilizes the approved AIT curriculum that focuses on residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

The dates for 2023/24 school year are:
• Level 1 – October 23 2023 through Dec 15 2023
• Level 2 – January 8 2024 through March 1 2024
• Level 3 – March 11 2024 through May 3 2024

All participants must meet the registration requirements outlined by AIT and this program is only offered to apprentices registered with AIT. More information can be found at:
AIT Entrance Requirements – minimum Grade 10 Math & English or complete an AIT entrance exam
Apprentices must maintain their records of on the job hours through AIT’s bluebook system. Bluebooks are mailed out when you complete your registration as an apprentice with AIT and records are submitted through your mytradesecrets account.
Government Grants: Grants are available through the Government of Canada. There are incentive, completion, and other grants available. Please review the below link.
Manitoba currently offers Painter Decorator Apprenticeship Training through Red River College. Apprentices must register as apprentices with the Province of Manitoba.

Saskatchewan does not currently offer training. Interested members are welcome to attend training in Alberta but must register as an apprentice with the Province of Saskatchewan.
