DC17 Training Department was go-go-go this 2018/2019 Fall/Winter off-season (= Training Season!). In addition to our usual Health & Safety courses, our SSPC offerings, the new Foreman Training Series, and the new Industrial Skills Series, IUPAT DC17 continued the rollout of our new Plural Pump Training Course.

In the first quarter of 2019, IUPAT DC17 Training hosted two [2] Plural Pump Level One (i.e., Introductory) courses in early January and late March in Saskatoon. Twenty-three [23] attended in total (twelve [12] in the January class, eleven [11] in March). DC17’s Plural Pump Training consists of Classroom lectures followed by hands-on operations. Attendees disassemble / tear down pumps, air motors, + start-up, operation, basic troubleshooting, and shutdown of Graco XP70 and Graco Reactor EXP2i units.

Student feed back has been fantastic. Students really appreciate this novel training, and the mobility of the training (we can come to them!).

Due to the different student skillsets for this introductory plural pump course, instructor to student ratio, and time constraints, attendees unanimously are eager for more; most tradespeople, even very seasoned tradespeople, just don’t get this sort of training on jobsites; the economics just don’t allow. So, we are developing a couple more levels (call it Level 2 & 3) for each mobile pump unit (XP70 & Reactor). These more advanced courses will have smaller instructor-student ratios for the ‘deeper’ dive into each unit. We’ll roll these more advanced levels out in the next few months.
