Syncrude to Delay Spring Shutdown

Syncrude to Delay Spring Shutdown

The Building Trades of Alberta has been notified by Syncrude that spring shutdown, scheduled to begin April 1, will be delayed until further notice due to the COVID-19 threat.

The health and wellness of BTA’s more than 60,000 members is paramount to our organization and we applaud Syncrude for taking this exceptional, but highly necessary move, to ensure its workforce is safe.

BTA continues to be in conversation with owners and contractors regarding COVID-19 and we remain committed to keeping members informed as we receive information in this very fluid situation.

Please remember to practice enhanced hygiene and social-distancing. If you feel ill, self-isolate and call Health Link 811 – or access the new online tool to self-diagnose symptoms – ahs.ca/covid19 – to help relieve stress on Health Link.

We’re all in this together so let’s take care of ourselves and each other as we push through this pandemic.

We will update members as things progress.
