Supervisor Training, In-House – Course Descriptions
The major objections of Foreman Tier 1 training is:
- To expand the list of potential foreman candidates for our signatory contractors
- More generally to inform our tradespeople of the challenges of supervision on jobsites
- To inform our tradespeople of the challenges in the commodities construction and maintenance markets we typically work in (e.g., oil sands, potash)
- Prepare attendees to be good Mentors for up and coming Apprentices
Who should take FM Tier 1: anyone with an interest in supervision, DC17 markets, and / or Mentorship challenges
Length: Two (2) Days
Instructor: Chris Hooter, IUPAT DC 17 Director of Training
Minimum Class Size: no hard and fast rule, but ten or more is preferred.
In the 2018/2019 Off-Season, DC 17 incorporated SSPC C2 as part of our Supervisor Training for General Foreman (aka, FM Tier 3) for Industrial Painters
Length: 40 hours classroom (can be broken up over a couple weekends) with 100 question exam
Who should attend: seasoned industrial painters in supervisory positions, or with interest in supervision

Instructor: Dennis Doran of LMCI
Cost: No costs to signatory contractors
Attendees: no hard and fast rules on attendees; a signatory contractor can send whomever they want; historically, LMCI gets an ~equal mix of existing office PMs/Estimators, more seasoned tradesmen in / moving up to supervision, and existing / future company owners. Minimum #: at least 10
Supervisor Training, Outsourced – Course Descriptions
LSE is a two-day course designed to assist managers and supervisors to integrate health and safety into their everyday planning and to create and promote safe and healthy work environments. Course material is geared toward management and supervisory positions. LSE is 1 of 4 COR courses required for the standard Certificate of Recognition (COR).
